The Basic Mechanism

Have you ever wondered about the most basic mechanism of how chiropractic works?
Think of a safety pin … think of the top as being a brain cell and one of the long spindles as representing the sensory nerves of the body. Think of the bottom loop as representing a tissue cell somewhere in the body, muscle, gland, organ and more. If the cycle works properly, then the brain cell receives messages which it processes and sends a corresponding message down.
When the body is in some form of adaptation then there is a possibility of that cycle being interrupted. This is what we chiropractors refer to as a subluxation. It is a chiropractic word for a chiropractic problem. When the spine is adjusted, it changes the neurological function, hopefully for the better.
Chiropractors do not therefore treat symptoms specifically, but hypothesise that by restoring neurological function, the brain becomes more coherent and the living body’s innate ability to heal is enhanced. A more coherent brain also quietens the pain messages which is why we can often feel so much better after a single adjustment.
